Parent Handbook

Teamwork is Important to Us

Welcome to Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church Day School! This is an exciting time in your child’s life and I am happy you have given us the opportunity to share in it. We have an exciting year planned for your children. Our excellent staff brings fun, creative, and challenging activities into each classroom. As a Christian-based school, we strive to give your child exceptional care, and an excellent education, with a Christian foundation. Our low child/staff ratio permits us to identify each child as an individual and to better understand and meet their individual needs. This handbook should answer many of your questions about our program. However, please feel free to ask for any information you do not find here. In case of policy changes, parents will be notified by way of written correspondence. We thank you for this opportunity to share with you information about Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church Day School and look forward to a wonderful year together. Childhood is a journey, not a race. The staff of Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church Day School is ready to partner with you and your child on this journey. We look forward to a wonderful year of fun experiences and growth. Welcome to our family!

Our current parent-teacher projects:

  • Special recognition and celebrations of Grandparents day, Mothers Day, Fathers Day– Each year, Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church Day School hosts these special events that usually include a special chapel. The day’s activities are planned by our Program Coordinator.
  • Room Parent – Each year we ask 2-3 parents to become room parents for each class. This job is primarily to communicate teacher needs to the class parents, Helping get parents signed up to sponsor holiday parties, helping organize parents when volunteers are needed for the FALL FLING or other projects. These parents work directly with the Teachers, the Program Coordinator and the Director to delegate and designate the help needed.
  • Parent Workdays – Our parents organize 2-3 parent workdays a year to help the school with upkeep and designated projects. We take volunteers of all ability levels and provide all the materials needed. We appreciate the ‘Elbow Grease’ our parents contribute to the school.

We’re always grateful for support above and beyond the call of duty.
