Introducing BEE Adventures: A New Sunday Morning for Young Families

Starting Sunday, June 7 at 8:45 AM, Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church is launching BEE Adventures — a 45-minute program for families with children ages 4 through 8. Think less “sit still and listen” and more Magic School Bus meets Sunday School: games, live music, improv, costumes, and a different Bible story every week.

And the best part? It’s totally free, totally welcoming, and you don’t have to be a church member (or even know what a Presbyterian is) to come.

What’s a BEE Adventure?

Each week, we explore one Bible story with the help of our four mascots — the BEE Scouts: Lamb, Lion, Dove, and Donkey. Sometimes they’re puppets, sometimes they’re volunteers in costume, but they’re always there to guide the kids through the story.

A typical morning looks like this:

  • Meet & mingle — coffee for grown-ups, hellos for kids
  • A Bible game with a twist — think “loaves, loaves, fish” instead of “duck, duck, goose”
  • A musical recap of last week’s story (because life is busy and missing a Sunday is normal)
  • The BEE Adventure — the week’s Bible story brought to life with songs, dance, and improv
  • A closing prayer

We meet in Fellowship Hall, which we’re transforming into a warm, kid-friendly space — much cozier than a big sanctuary if your family is new to all this.

What’s coming up?

Here’s our story lineup for the first six weeks:

DateStory
June 7Daniel & the Lion’s Den
June 14Jonah and the Big Fish
June 21Abraham & Sarah
June 28Noah’s Ark
July 5Creation
July 12David & Goliath

Each week is a complete story, so you can drop in any Sunday — no catching up required.

Why “BEE”?

It stands for Bible Education & Exploration. (And yes, we know that’s three E’s. We’re going with it.) Our motto is “Together in faith, every step of the way!” — because faith, like a hike, is more fun with company.
