A Time to Stand Firm in Faith
Spring is in the air! The gentle breeze and warm sunshine remind us of the renewal this season brings. Just as nature refreshes, so too does our faith as we journey through Lent together.
Last Sunday, we were blessed to have Rev. Karen Stocks in the pulpit. With her diverse experience, including serving as an Air Force Chaplain, she masterfully wove a message through all four lectionary readings: Genesis 15:1-12,17-18; Psalm 27; Philippians 3:17-4:1; and the Gospel of St. Luke 13:31-35.
Her sermon reminded us of the importance of standing firm in faith, even when the math of life doesn’t seem to add up—just as Abraham did. She also drew inspiration from Harry Emerson Fosdick’s hymn, God of Grace and God of Glory, written during the Great Depression. In these messages, we find hope, strength, and the power of standing together in faith.
A Sunday of Beautiful Music
Alongside the powerful sermon, the service was enriched by beautiful music. Elizabeth James graced us with a lovely solo during the Offertory, and our wonderful Choir lifted their voices in a stirring rendition of My Song In The Night.
